Man and elephant in harmony?

, : Man and elephant in harmony?. Courier Brussels ( 157): 28-30

The article examines the future for elephants in Kenya in the context of their relationship with humans. It examines the views of David Western, head of the Kenyan Wildlife Service (KWS), on ways of maintaining an elephant population both within and outside the national parks. The animosity felt toward elephants by agriculturalists surrounding national parks is focused upon. Human deaths caused by elephants are a grave area of concern with adequate compensation rarely made available.
