Man-vegetation relationships during the last five millennia in the littoral plain of Penedes (NE Iberian Peninsula)

, : Man-vegetation relationships during the last five millennia in the littoral plain of Penedes (NE Iberian Peninsula). Vie et Milieu 47(1): 53-68

Results are presented of the Cubelles-I pollen core sample located in the littoral plain of the Garraf-Penedes sector. The drilling of Cubelles-I was carried out in an ancient marsh, drained during the 18th and 19th centuries. The lithology shows the initial development of a lagoon that subsequently evolved towards a littoral marsh. On the basis of the character and intensity of human activity during these phases, 4 main periods of land use have been identified.
