Management factors affecting keeping quality of shallot in Sisaket, northeastern Thailand

, : Management factors affecting keeping quality of shallot in Sisaket, northeastern Thailand. Acta Horticulturae ( 358): 375-381

Sisaket Province is a principal shallot production area of northeast Thailand (10 000 ha planted with an annual production of around 50 000 t). Traditionally, in order to overcome general acid soil infertility, termite mound soil was used for plot preparation and cattle manure was incorporated as an organic amendment. The keeping quality of shallots has gradually deteriorated since the introduction of large scale production systems about 20 years ago.
