The second phase of the title project comprises 21 partial projects conducted by 10 institutions in fen areas of northern Germany. It is split into basal monitoring (continuous monitoring), general process research (hydrology and rewetting management, habitat preferences of animals, modelling and socioeconomics), and special process research (dispersal and establishment mechanisms for animal and plant species, emission of trace gases, peat formation processes).
