Management of bean cultivars differing in growth habit in the highlands of Santa Catarina. I. Seed yield

, : Management of bean cultivars differing in growth habit in the highlands of Santa Catarina. I. Seed yield. Ciencia Rural 24(3): 513-517

In field trials in Lages, Santa Catarina in 1991/92, 3 cultivars of Phaseolus vulgaris were sown in early Oct. or early Dec., given 25 kg N, 100 kg P2O5 and 50 kg K2O/ha and thinned 1 week after emergence to give stand densities of 100 000, 200 000 or 300 000 plants/ha. Average seed yields over all densities were 57% higher after sowing at the recommended date in early Oct. than at the later date.
