A project to develop soil management technologies that can overcome soil physical limitations to dry season (DS) crop production was initiated in Indonesia and the Philippines, supported by a research programme in Australia. A range of practices were tested that have the potential to overcome adverse soil physical conditions for DS crops after rice, including amendments, specific tillage techniques, and a range of delay periods between rice harvest and sowing the DS crop.
