, : Management of irrigation networks: comparison among six Mediterranean countries. International Conference on Land and Water Resources Management in the Mediterranean Region, Valenzano, Bari, Italy 4-8 September, 1994 ( 1): 207-224

The management of irrigation networks in Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, Jordan, Malta and Turkey, in which there is a shortage of water resources, was examined. Organization of irrigation was analysed with particular emphasis on the technical aspects of irrigation networks and to the problems related to their management, operation and maintenance (O&M). The sharing of O&M costs and responsibilities among the government, the local authorities and private individuals was also studied.
