Management of private forests in Ireland

, : Management of private forests in Ireland. Agroforestry Forum 8(1): 8-9

A survey of private woodland owners (including farmers) in the Irish Republic indicated that the main reason for tree planting was to make use of poor land, followed by forestry being the most economic use of the land. Some 90% of the owners sampled said that production of timber for sale was an objective for their woodland, but many had other objectives as well including the production of timber for domestic use, family recreation and landscape uses.
