Mature hardwood and softwood cuttings of Dalbergia sissoo were tested for their capacity to root in order to raise seedlings in mass in a mist chamber with controlled temperature and humidity. Cuttings were prepared in three seasons, spring, monsoon and winter, and treated with different concentrations of auxins (100, 500 and 1000 mg/litre IBA and NAA). Rooting ability was influenced by the physiological state of the cutting and the environment in which it was planted.
