Material and energy flows from the forest to the sawmill
There is greater consumer interest in the ecological aspects of all parts of the forest products industry. Environmental awareness is also playing a more important part in decision making and planning in the industry. Life cycle analysis of wood products from the forest through product use to ultimate disposal needs information about material and energy flows throughout the life of the wood fibre. As part of this procedure, two modules in the life cycle are presented and discussed, viz.
