Mating disruption of pea moth, Cydia nigricana, and codling moth, C. pomonella, using blends of sex pheromone and attraction antagonists

Mating disruption of pea moth, Cydia nigricana, and codling moth, C. pomonella, using blends of sex pheromone and attraction antagonists

Bulletin OILB/SROP 20(1): 207-215

The sex pheromone of Cydia nigricana is (8E,10E)-8,10-dodecadien-1-yl acetate. Small amounts of the isomers (8E,10Z)-, (8Z,10E)- and (8Z,10Z)-8,10-dodecadien-1-yl acetate inhibit male attraction to (8E,10E)-8,10-dodecadien-1-yl acetate. In pea fields treated for mating disruption, males were attracted to dispensers releasing >98% pure (8E,10E)-8,10-dodecadien-1-yl acetate.
