Matric potential of clay loam soils on arid rangelands of the south western United States

, : Matric potential of clay loam soils on arid rangelands of the south western United States. Proceedings of the XVI International Grassland Congress, 4-11 October 1989, Nice, France: 519-520

Matric potential in 3 clay loam locations at 6 depths was measured with an ohmmeter and gypsum blocks. At 2 locations, blocks were placed inside and outside a sheet metal cylinder so that estimates could be obtained of matric potential due to precipitation and due to precipitation plus run-in. The average annual precipitation during the approximate 20-year study period was 252 mm, slightly above the long-term average.
