Mutagenic effectiveness of gamma rays in mungbean (Vigna radiata (L.) wilczek)

Seeds of the V. radiata varieties Sunaina and ML65 were treated with 10 doses of gamma radiation ranging from 10 kR to 100 kR, with a dose rate of 1.82 kR/minute. The effectiveness and efficiency of the gamma radiation differed considerably in the 2 varieties. Based on chlorophyll mutations, doses of 80-100 kR in Sunaina and 60-70 kR in ML65 were the most effective. For viable mutations, 40 and 50 kR were the most effective doses for Sunaina and ML65, respectively.
