798 (17.7%) of 4521 blood smears examined over a 6-year period (1978-1984) were positive for Theileria annulata infection. Typical T. annulata with oval and annular forms (Category I) were observed in two-thirds of the cases; rod and comma-shaped forms (Category II) predominated in the remaining cases. Parasitaemia was higher in Category I infections. Prevalence peaked in June (26.3%) and was lowest in February (13.7%).
