Abstract
The average areas under onion and garlic cultivation in Mexico are 35 000 and 8000-10 000 ha, respectively. Annual onion production is estimated to be 650 000 t, of which 115 000-170 000 t are exported, while that of garlic averages 65 000 t, 50% for export and 50% for the home market.
