OXYGEN DEFICIENCY AND ROOT METABOLISM: Injury and Acclimation Under Hypoxia and Anoxia
Damage to roots by O2 deficiency and changes in metabolism during acclimatization to low O2 concentrations are reviewed under the following headings: introduction; the oxygen status of cells and tissues; metabolism under anoxia; signalling of hypoxia and anoxia; and anoxia avoidance by selective cell death and aerenchyma formation.
