PCR for diagnosis and follow-up of two cases of disseminated toxoplasmosis after kidney grafting

, : PCR for diagnosis and follow-up of two cases of disseminated toxoplasmosis after kidney grafting. Journal of Clinical Microbiology 34(5): 1347-1347

Two cases of toxoplasmosis in kidney transplant recipients were reported. One patient, a 40-year-old man, was seronegative for Toxoplasma gondii whereas his donor was seropositive, and the second patient, a 42-year-old woman, had serological evidence of past exposure to T. gondii while her donor was seronegative. In both cases, T. gondii was detected by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and both patients were successfully treated for toxoplasmosis.
