, : Padma - a new early variety of sesame for a part of Maharashtra. Journal of Maharashtra Agricultural Universities 19(2): 190-191

Derived from the cross Phule Til 1 x N32, this sesame (Sesamum indicum) variety, studied under the name JLT26, produced yields which averaged 14, 28 and 34% greater than those of Tapi, TC25 and Phule Til 1, respectively, in trials conducted at Jalgaon during 1983-86. Averaged over 13 multilocational trials (1986-89) it yielded 903 kg/ha, 25 and 41% greater than yields of TC25 and Hawari, respectively. It also performed well in adaptive trials in Maharashtra. Seeds of Padma contain ~50.5% oil.
