Pakistan's experience in the agricultural use of halophytic species

Halophytes and biosaline agriculture: 349-359
Pakistan's experience in the agricultural use of halophytic species
Forage grasses and and halophytic shrubs grown under saline conditions throughout the world are briefly summarized. In an investigation on the feasibility of producing halophytic forage in Pakistan, seedlings of 12 Atriplex species and cultivars were irrigated with saline water. A. lentiformis exhibited maximum shoot volume and survival percentage; plant volume and grazeable biomass were greater in A. amnicola.
