Palaeoecological aspects of the immigration history of some tree taxa during the Holocene in Europe

, : Palaeoecological aspects of the immigration history of some tree taxa during the Holocene in Europe. Angewandte Botanik 71(1/2): 54-61

The spread of the genera Abies, Carpinus, Corylus, and Fraxinus was investigated for the Holocene in Europe, using a database of 1700 pollen diagrams. Data are presented as distribution maps showing patterns of the earliest traces of the taxa. The direction of immigration, refuge areas during the Pleniglacial, and the time span between first evidence and large-scale spread of the taxa are analysed (ages are given in calibrated 14C-years).
