Parasites of the digestive tract of young polar foxes and silver foxes reared on farms

Parasites of the digestive tract of young polar foxes and silver foxes reared on farms

Acta Universitatis Agriculturae, Facultas Agronomica 42(3/4): 209-214

A parasitological survey of young (weaned) Arctic and silver foxes reared on farms in the Czech Republic was carried out during 1989 and 1990. A total of 480 faecal samples was examined and 3 species of parasites were identified. Isospora vulpina was present in Arctic foxes from July to November in both years of the survey, with monthly prevalence rates fluctuating between 5 to 65%, and in silver foxes from July to November 1989 and June-July and October-November 1990, with 2.5-30% prevalence.
