Water retention ability of excised wheat leaves from 78 genotypes and post-anthesis stress induced by chemical desiccation in 114 genotypes were assessed to study cuticular resistance against water loss and translocation ability of stored stem reserves. Using the measured water potential and relative water content data, pressure-volume curves were drawn and osmotic potential and water saturation deficit at zero turgor calculated.
