In s field experiment conducted during the winter seasons of 1990/91 and 1991/92 in Sidhi district, Madhya Pradesh, wheat C-306 and sunflowers Morden were grown in pure stands or in 2:1, 2:2, 4:1 or 4:2 row or seed mixture ratios. The highest wheat equivalent yield was given by intercropping wheat and sunflowers in a 4:1 row ratio. Mixing seeds together before sowing gave lower wheat equivalent yields than either the row intercrops or the pure stands of each crop.
