Proportions of and some reasons for total and partial pork carcass condemnations at Finnish abattoirs in 1989-1993

Proportions of and some reasons for total and partial pork carcass condemnations at Finnish abattoirs in 1989-1993

Suomen Elainlaakarilehti 101(12): 756-765

The means of the proportions of swine carcass condemnations were compared between 17 abattoirs. There were significant differences in the means of both totally and partially condemned carcasses. Arthritis was the main reason for all condemnations. Partial condemnations due to abscesses were more frequent at large abattoirs than at small ones and increased significantly each year during the study.
