Rapid curing of cement-bonded particleboard IV. Sodium silicate as a fortifier during steam injection pressing

Rapid curing of cement-bonded particleboard IV. Sodium silicate as a fortifier during steam injection pressing

Mokuzai Gakkaishi = Journal of the Japan Wood Research Society 42(8): 769-775

To improve the properties of cement-bonded particleboard (CBP) produced by applying steam injection pressing, sodium silicate (Na2SiO3) was added to ordinary portland cement (OPC) as a fortifier. Some CBPs also were produced using only Na2SiO3 or sodium hydrogen carbonate (NaHCO3) as fortifiers while magnesium chloride (MgCl2) was added as an accelerator for cement hydration.
