A field study was conducted at Hebbal, Bangalore, during 1990-92 on a sandy loam soil to determine the response of maize Deccan 101 sown in the rainy seasons, to the residual organic matter and phosphorus fertilizers present from application to previous soyabean crops. Organic fertilizers were applied to the soyabeans at 0, 5 or 10 t/ha (1:1 farmyard manure and rice straw) and inorganic P was applied at 37.5 or 56.25 kg P2O5/ha.
