Response of soybean to nitrogen, phosphorus and Rhizobium

In field trials in rabi 1992/93 at Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh, soyabeans MACS-58 were given no fertilizers or seed inoculation, seed inoculation with Bradyrhizobium japonicum alone or with 30 kg N/ha, 30 or 60 kg N/ha alone and 0-75 kg P2O5/ha. There was a significant increase in seed yield with up to 50 kg P2O5/ha. Seed inoculation + 30 kg N/ha gave a similar seed yield (1.37 t/ha) to 60 kg N/ha alone (1.38 t).
