Response of spring wheat cultivars to sprinkler irrigation and mineral fertilizer application

In field trials on sandy soil at Lipki in 1988-90, spring wheat Jara, Kadett, Eta and Henika were grown with or without sprinkler irrigation adjusted to water requirements over 10-d periods and were given 50 kg N + 40 kg P + 50 kg K/ha or 2 or 3 times these rates. The average grain yield of the 4 cultivars increased from 3.49, 3.69 and 3.80 t/ha at the 3 NPK rates, respectively, without irrigation to 4.62, 5.07 and 5.35 t with irrigation.
