Food safety evaluation of transgenic Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis)tomatoes is considered under the headings: insecticidal activity in transgenic tomatoes; insecticidal activity of CRYIA(b) in mammals; systemic toxicity of CRYIA(b) in mammals; food safety assessment of transgenic crop. In summary it was determined that oral exposure to transgenic Bt tomatoes poses no additional risk to human and animal health.
