Stain disease of Benguet pine (Pinus kesiya Royle ex Gordon) trees in Musuan, Bukidnon

Stain disease of Benguet pine (Pinus kesiya Royle ex Gordon) trees in Musuan, Bukidnon

CMU Research Journal 7(2): 70-83

Incidence of this disease in a plantation of P. kesiya was 78.76%. Characteristic symptoms were severe needle chlorosis, needle casting, and thinning of the crown followed by dying of the needles, twigs, branches and then the entire tree. Blackish resin exuded from the basal area. The wood discoloration started in the roots and extended up the stem. The causal fungus is believed to be Trichoderma koningii, morphological details of which are given.
