Stigma receptivity studies in male sterile lines of pearl millet

During 1987-88, stigma receptivity was investigated in 6 male sterile lines of pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) (MS81A, MS834A, MS841A, MS843A, RHRB1A and Pb111A) grown at Rahuri and pollinated with their respective maintainer lines. Kharif was the best season for stigma receptivity. Seed setting in kharif was 21.7 and 32.6% higher than in rabi and summer, respectively.
