Studies on cytology features in the development of anthers and pollens of allocytoplasm male sterile line of Chinese cabbage (Brassica campestris ssp. pekinensis)

The cytological, morphological and histochemical features of the development of anthers and microsporogenesis of allocytoplasmically male sterile Chinese cabbage line CMS3411-7, derived from a male-sterile line of rape (B. napus), were compared with those of the maintainer 3411-7. Anther development of CMS3411-7 was mainly abnormal at the archesporial cell. There was no differentiation of archesporial cells and microspores, but vascular bundles in the anthers developed normally.
