Studies on the F1 hybrids of the silkworm, Bombyx mori L. I. Combining ability of some characters among multivoltine and bivoltine varieties

Combining ability analyses between 6 multivoltine (BSR-1(W), BSR-10, BSRI-802, MM Pure, O5 and Nang Nung-7B(P)), and 3 bivoltine races (Dong-34(M), RB-001 and BV-C) of Bombyx mori was studied. Parents, along with 18 hybrids, were assessed for 4 larval and cocoon characters (mature larval weight, surviving percentage, shell weight and cocoon weight). Of the multivoltine races, BSR-1(W) was identified as the best general combiner followed by BSR-10 and MM Pure.
