Study on the characteristics of vegetative organs of Stenotaphrum secundatum (Walt.) Kuntze and Axonopus compressus (Swartz) Beauv

Study on the characteristics of vegetative organs of Stenotaphrum secundatum (Walt.) Kuntze and Axonopus compressus (Swartz) Beauv

Journal of Tropical and Subtropical Botany 3(3): 50-55

Both S. secundatum and A. compressus are good lawn grasses in tropical and subtropical regions. Their stoloniferous stems producing roots and tillers at each node result in good ground cover. The numerous, well-maintained root hairs of S. secundatum and the creeping habit of A. compressus indicate that they would be suitable for soil conservation.
