Survival and spread of basal stem rot in coconut and arecanut palms

The nature and mode of survival of Ganoderma lucidum was investigated. The fungus failed to grow in unsterile soil and in sterile soil it only grew when the original agar disc was present. The spread of inoculum and infection in coconut and arecanut plantations was shown to be random.
