Survival and wilderness: a global dilemma



Sharing the earth: local identity in global culture: 1-10



This paper argues that whether we are aware of it or not, our identity is still deeply rooted in the natural world of which we were once an integral part. As we turned ourselves into urban creatures with a fear of wilderness, we came to regard the land as something apart from ourselves, to be exploited rather than something of which we are a part and dependent upon.
