Survival of Kenchu virus of Bombyx mori L. in manure pit through the alimentary canal of the domestic fowl

Survival of Kenchu virus of Bombyx mori L. in manure pit through the alimentary canal of the domestic fowl

Mysore Journal of Agricultural Sciences 30(4): 380-388

Studies were carried out in India on the survival of the Kenchu virus of Bombyx mori (race: Pure Mysore) in manure pits and after passage through the digestive system of domestic fowl (Gallus gallus domesticus). The Kenchu virus retained its infectivity in the manure pit for 9 months as revealed by the reduction in larval weight, an increase in larval duration, the lower ET50 for mortality and the high mortality of larvae inoculated with the virus.
