Mammary neoplasms were removed surgically from 19 dogs and 12 cats that had no signs of metastases. Of the 18 animals that died (8) or were killed (10) as a result of the recurrence of the neoplasms, the mean survival times and the periods before neoplasm recurrence (in months) were 10+or-2.54 and 7.75+or-2.4 in 8 dogs, respectively, and 1.12+or-2.04 and 7.7+or-2.27 in 10 cats.
