Susceptibility of Clostridium perfringens from goats to nine antimicrobial agents

Susceptibility of Clostridium perfringens from goats to nine antimicrobial agents

Indian Journal of Comparative Microbiology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases 17(2): 177-178

35 strains of type A C. perfringens were isolated from duodenal and caecal swab samples of 35 diarrhoeic goats (30 slaughtered and 5 dead). Sensitivity of these isolates to 9 antimicrobial agents was examined in vitro using disc diffusion technique. The isolates were highly sensitive (100%) to penicillin, lincomycin, chloramphenicol, nitrofurantoin, erythromycin, oleandomycin, bacitracin and metronidazole.
