Susceptibility of peach cultivars, rootstocks and hybrids to plum pox virus

During 1983-93, response to plum pox potyvirus under natural infection in the field was assessed in 54 peach and nectarine cultivars, 8 rootstocks and 5 hybrids using visual and ELISA methods. On the basis of intensity of symptoms on leaves and fruit and on virus content in various tissues, the accessions fell into 5 groups: tolerant, weakly susceptible, moderately susceptible, susceptible and strongly susceptible.
