Susceptibility of some common varieties of jute, kenaf and roselle to root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita)

The relative susceptibility of five varieties of jute (Corchorus capsularis and C. olitorius), one variety of kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus) and one variety of roselle (H. sabdariffa) to M. incognita was determined in a pot experiment. Plants were inoculated artificially with freshly hatched second stage infective larvae of the nematode and graded for various levels of disease reaction following a standard gall indexing scale.
