Susceptibility of well conserved silages to aerobic degradation

Forage cut from autumn and spring growth of Italian ryegrass Ellire was wilted to different DM contents and ensiled in small-scale (1.5 litre) or experimental silos (9 msuperscript 3), respectively, with or without application of a salt (Kofasil Plus) or lactic acid bacteria inoculant (Bactensil Plus). Inoculation improved fermentation quality of silage regardless of DM contents, but increased susceptibility to aerobic degradation.
