Susceptibility to peach leaf curl (Taphrina deformans Berk.) Tul. in a peach germplasm collection

Susceptibility to peach leaf curl (Taphrina deformans Berk.) Tul. in a peach germplasm collection

Journal of Horticultural Science 72(6): 863-872

The susceptibility of 1103 peach genotypes (738 dessert peaches, 168 clingstone peaches and 197 nectarines) and 152 unselected seedlings to leaf curl (T. deformans) was assessed at Follonica on the west coast of Italy. No cultivars rated zero, which is equivalent to immunity, only 6 rated 1 (up to 20% of leaves with symptoms), while 62% had the highest susceptibility rating of 5. Presence or absence of leaf glands and fruit type were not correlated with resistance or susceptibility.
