Sustainability of RDRS Credit Programme: an overview

Sustainability of RDRS Credit Programme: an overview

Grassroots 5(19): 23-36

The paper reviews the Rangpur Dinajpur Rural Service (RDRS) Credit Programme, which is aimed at the rural poor in northern Bangladesh, and shows that innovative approaches have had major successes in terms of both repayment and outreach, including wider coverage of women beneficiaries. Among the major reasons for the achievements are innovations in the programme design, management and implementation of the credit programme, that fit well with the unique conditions of the RDRS area.
