Sustainability of Water User Associations as groundwater irrigation managers: a case study under on-farm water management, Punjab, Pakistan

The paper discusses water users associations and examines their organization and operation after the reconstruction of small-scale community irrigation schemes. Special reference is given to their performance in managing groundwater irrigation in a sustainable manner. The paper compares the relative performances of recently renovated watercourses carrying canal and groundwater (tubewell water).
