Sustainability re-viewed : toward systems agriculture with an ecological perspective

Sustainability re-viewed : toward systems agriculture with an ecological perspective

Proceedings national symposium on sustainable agriculture in sub humid zone, March 3-5, 1995: 20-25

Cultural and eco-history of man indicates three principal dichotomies of human civilization, i.e. between man and nature, between man and man, and between man and the man-made. A few contradictions emergent from these dichotomies and relevant to sustainability have been identified, i.e. religious-ethical, reductionism-holism, ethical economics vis-avis engineering economics, environmental economy vis-a-vis ecological economy.
