Sustainable agriculture in Bangladesh: addressing issues through human resource development

Sustainable agriculture in Bangladesh: addressing issues through human resource development

Journal of Rural Development, Bangladesh 26(1): 1-21

An overview is presented of the concept of sustainable agriculture, focusing on Bangladesh. The issues relating to Bangladesh are discussed by describing farm practices and their consequences on agricultural productivity and the farm environment. One way of addressing the issues of sustainable agriculture is through manpower development to create awareness among farmers, policy makers, researchers and other professionals; and disseminating research findings through extension workers.
