Sustainable development

Sustainable development

Sustainable development: 365 pp.

The book comprises three distinct parts. The first one (five chapters) describes the conceptual origin and evolution of sustainability in relation to the environment and development. It explores its historical background, pays particular attention to the Rio Conference as a benchmark and unravels the links with demography and ethics. The second part (two chapters) deals with the question of how to measure sustainability.
