Sustainable development and women: the role of NGOs

The gendered new world order: militarism, development and the environment: 95-111

Following a brief introduction to the impact of NGOs on women and gendered development, the paper describes the general role of women grassroots organizations, and grassroot support organizations activists in more detail. Examples are drawn from across the developing world. The third section concentrates on their role in confronting the interrelated barriers to sustainable development, population, poverty and environmental degradation.
