Sustainable development projects in biosphere reserves: recurring pitfalls and how to avoid them

This article considers four pitfalls that stand in the way of successful development of biosphere reserves around the world. They are by no means the only sources of project failure but they recur so frequently that they should be borne in mind by designers and implementers of future projects.
